Mission: To make the most voluminous whipped cream.

Learning objectives:
— Understand intermolecular forces and apply to biological systems.
— Investigate the affects of several variables on the quality and stability of emulsions.
— Practice the scientific method.

Fun with Whipped Cream

Students learned about emulsions and why they are important to biological organisms. We had a contest to see who could produce the most voluminous whipped cream which is an emulsion. In addition we investigated how different variables affected volume.

Tuesday, February 5th at 11am-12pm followed immediately by one-to-one Education Plan revisions from 12pm-1pm with none other then MESA’s STEM Counselor Tomas Riojas.

Tuesday, February 5th at 12pm-1pm; UCLA’s representative Tracie Sanchez will present about UCLA’s Center for Community College Partnerships (CCCP) for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. Opportunities include access to a summer and year-long academic preparatory transfer program which yields a higher rate of admissions to selective institutions and eligibility for special scholarships.
